Opportunities Outside the Classroom

The Frisch Experience is truly multi-faceted. Many exciting and educationally enriching aspects of the high school experience take place outside of the classroom and after regular school hours. Through student programming and activities, students are immersed in opportunities for learning well beyond traditional classroom education. All students are encouraged to explore and cultivate their unique talents.

Shabbatonim and Trips

At Frisch, informal education is not extracurricular; it is an indispensable element of the Frisch Experience. Annual trips offer our students a chance to bond in an out-of-school setting and to discuss issues that typically affect students during those years. The learning and growth which occurs on these retreats, provides some of the most memorable and meaningful moments of our students’ educational experience. Upon returning to school, the students integrate the lessons learned on retreat back into the classroom and the school community.

Community Service

At Frisch, students develop into passionate members of the Jewish community whose concerns for social welfare extend beyond school. Educating students about Israel and giving them the skills to advocate on its behalf is the goal of Cougars for Israel (the American Israel Student Action Committee). Frisch’s Chessed Society and Kahal Club are both student-run activities focused on improving the lives of others through tzedaka campaigns, food and toy drives, as well as Yachad and Friendship Circle events. Grade-wide Chessed Days allow students to actualize Frisch’s core value of kindness in the community. Community service projects include: meeting with residents of nursing homes, preparing and serving food in soup kitchens, cleaning Jewish cemeteries (Chessed Shel Emet), building Sukkot for senior citizens and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
