On September 11, Yeshivat Frisch commemorated the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks against the United States. The school welcomed Frisch parent Martin Fineberg, who spoke to Frisch’s seniors about being a 9/11 survivor. Later than normal to work that day due to Selichot, Fineberg narrowly and miraculously escaped being in his 79th floor office in the South Tower when the second plane hit. He spoke to the students about his perspective on miracles and the imperative of living a responsible, reflective life. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors commemorated 9/11 in their history classes.
On Monday, Sept. 16, the senior grade experienced a powerful, impactful visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in Manhattan. There, at the site of tragedy and resilience, they reflected on good and evil, the preciousness of life and the importance of service to others for leading a life of meaning.
