Yeshivat Frisch’s Model Beit Din club visited Yeshiva University on April 23, along with faculty adviser Rabbi Gedaliah Jaffe. There, they discussed their halachic arguments before YU Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Baruch Simon about the hypothetical “case of the poisoned sandwich.”
The students’ task was to consider what halacha might have to say about a situation in which a student, whose lunch kept getting stolen, poisoned his sandwich one day (non-lethally) in order to cause an adverse reaction and thereby catch the culprit. After they presented their conclusions, the Frisch Model Beit Din participants had the opportunity to receive feedback on their halachic arguments from Rabbi Simon.
